10-year-old embarks on a sponsored litter pick along coast to support local causes

Indie, a passionate 10-year-old from Torbay who is autistic and deeply connected to nature, is taking her love for the environment to the next level. In a heartwarming show of community spirit and care for the planet, Indie is organising a sponsored litter pick along the stunning South West Coast Path—from Torquay to Brixham.

Indie spends much of her free time litter picking around her local area, helping keep beaches, parks, and pathways clean for everyone to enjoy. Now, she’s taking on a much bigger challenge in the name of two causes very close to her heart: Hector’s House Cat Rescue and Cricketfield Community Garden.

“I love animals but cats are my favourite and I want to help the ones who don’t have a home,” says Indie. “And I love nature too, so I want to help look after it.”

The sponsored litter pick will cover miles of coastline, with Indie collecting rubbish along the way to protect wildlife and keep the area beautiful. All funds raised will be split equally between the two chosen causes:

Hector’s House Cat Rescue, a local charity providing care and shelter for unwanted or stray cats.

Cricketfield Community Garden, a green space in Torquay that promotes sustainability, biodiversity, education and community engagement.

Indie’s family, friends, and local supporters are rallying behind her, and the wider community is invited to show support by sponsoring her efforts.

This inspiring young environmentalist is proving that you’re never too young to make a difference.
