Hello Gravity Storm – Introduce yourselves…

James Lowe -21 – Vocals /Matt Chalk – 20 – Guitars / Dec Vaughan – 20 – Drums / Dan Huggins – 24 – Bass

Where are you guys from?

We are based in the Torbay area.

Where did the name come from?

As always looking for a band name is a hard task. After weeks of throwing idea’s around we couldn’t come up with anything that sounded great, until one day I was browsing the web looking at guitar virtuoso and legend Steve Vai…. he had a song on his latest album – “Gravity Storm’ ….. I thought to myself ah that’s gotta be taken, it’s too cool! Looked around on the web, couldn’t find anyone with that name, we all agreed it was cool and it just stuck!

How would you describe your music to people?

Our music is a combination of many things. First and foremost we are a Hard Rock / Metal band. The best way to describe our music is heavy, yet melodic. Hard and heavy riffs with clean melodic vocals. We are all big fans of Progressive Rock & Metal and like to incorporate that into our music too.

Who are your musical influences?

Our main collective influences are Rush, Dream Theater, Alter Bridge, U2, Porcupine Tree, Shinedown, Stone Sour, Megadeth & Led Zeppelin to name but a few.
However we also love to take influence from a massive mix of artists, anything from Lamb of God & Opeth to Seal, Stevie Wonder & Michael Jackson.

Tell us about your favourite gig..

I would say our favorite Gravity Storm show so far would’ve either been one a few weeks ago at “The Ferry Boat – Shaldon” or the “Jolly Abbot – Newton Abbot” in November, both had fantastic, enthusiastic audiences that were a pleasure to perform in front of! We are looking forward to getting around in 2014 and playing some great shows.

What’s the most bizarre thing to happen while you were onstage?

I honestly can’t think of anything particularity bizarre that has happened so far on stage, I mean in previous bands there have been a few bizarre moments but I’m sure we will get our fair share in the near future!

Thanks Gravity Storm. We wish you the very best for the future! Is there anything else we need to know about you?

You can purchase our debut album – “No Tomorrow” via our website on CD, iTunes, Amazon MP3 & Google Play.

2013 was a fantastic start for Gravity Storm, gaining praise from people such as Mark Tremonti (Alter Bridge) Brian Marshall (Alter Bridge) Michael Baskette (Alter Bridge Producer) & legendary bassist Mr. Billy Sheehan, we are so pleased with the response to the band so far, we can’t wait to hit it this year with local gigs and the recording of our second album!
