Bloor Homes raises over £500 for guide dogs at country park launch

Guide Dogs for the Blind in Exeter and District will benefit from more than £500 raised by Bloor Homes at the launch of a new Country Park at the housebuilder’s Bloor Homes at Pinhoe development.

The funds were raised as part of a dog-friendly Family Fun Day, which aimed to raise awareness of the  Charity, and let people know about the new Country Park as a new recreation and leisure location, including dog walking.

Guide Dogs and Guide Dog puppies were the stars of the event, which held a raffle of pooch-themed prizes donated by local dog friendly-businesses as well as dog care, food, grooming and training specialists. For extra fun the Guide Dogs stand added a Tombola and Guide Dogs merchandise.

Prizes were also given to visiting K-nines who impressed the judges while local icecream van provided refreshments including dog icecreams, with all the proceeds also donated to help the charity’s important work restoring freedom and independence to the visually impaired.

Di Hatchett, Co-ordinator, Exeter and District Fundraising Group for the Charity, said: “We are very grateful to Bloor Homes, Pinhoe for including Guide Dogs in this event and for their very generous donation. Every day 250 more people join the 2 million already living with sight loss in the UK and this number is set to double by 2050. The funds raised by Bloor Homes at this event will support Guide Dogs to help such people. Every penny really does count towards the cost of just under £55,000.00 to support a Guide Dog from birth to retirement.”

Steph Ubl, Sales Manager for Bloor Homes’ Exeter region, said: “We were so pleased to see so many of our residents, many of whom I have got to know personally over the years who have been eager to see the new Country Park. It was wonderful  to welcome so many dogs and their humans to see it for the first time. Special thanks goes to our generous prize donors – The Red Lion Broadclyst Pub in Pinhoe; Grooming by Lauren, Heart Pet Supplies, and Pawfect Pact whose support has helped raise such a fantastic amount for Guide Dogs for the Blind in the local area.”

The Country Park at the Bloor Homes at Pinhoe development is part of the third and final phase the developer is building, and now gives local residents and the wider local community 15 acres of open space on their doorsteps to enjoy.

There are currently three and four bedroom energy efficient homes available at Bloor Homes at Pinhoe across seven different house styles. All have solar panels and an EV charging points included and are within walking distance of the new Country Park.
