With a £500 cash prize for the winning entry and a chance to be featured in regional marketing campaigns, The English Riviera Business Improvement District (BID) Company is set to launch a new public photography competition – open to UK residents from all over the country – to highlight the town’s unique character, charm, rich heritage and cultural scene.
Brixham, one of Devon’s busiest fishing ports, is located in the very heart of the English Riviera. Its working harbour, colourful waterfront, and vibrant year-round atmosphere make it a popular destination for both visitors and locals, and the brand-new competition aims to capture this spirit through the eyes of those who know and love the town.
‘Brixham in Images’ offers both budding and experienced photographers the chance to capture and celebrate the town’s most picturesque locations, and highlight the very best of Brixham through your own lens.
Carolyn Custerson, Chief Executive Officer of the English Riviera BID Company commented: “This competition is a great opportunity for people to capture what makes Brixham unique, from its harbour and marina to its welcoming community and stunning coastline. We’re looking forward to seeing a wide range of images that truly represent the town’s character and spirit.”
Entry Details:
Running from 01 July to 30 September 2025 (23:59 GMT), the competition will be open to UK residents aged 16 and over. Entrants are invited to submit up to three original photographs taken in Brixham that capture one or more of the following themes:
- Nature and landscapes
- Heritage and culture
- A memorable holiday moment
High-quality images taken on phones or cameras are both welcome, as long as the entrant is the original owner of the photo. Submissions must be uploaded via the official English Riviera webpage here.
Key dates:
- Competition opens: 01 July 2025
- Deadline for entries: 30 September 2025 (23:59 GMT)
- Shortlist announced: Week commencing 06 October 2025
- Winner announced: Week commencing 13 October 2025
A panel of judges, including representatives from the English Riviera BID Company, the local community, and the creative industries, will select five shortlisted entries. The public will then be invited to vote for the overall winner via social media polls on the English Riviera BID Company’s channels.
The winning photographer will:
- Feature in regional marketing campaigns (print, web, and social media)
- Receive a £500 cash prize, courtesy of the English Riviera Business Improvement District Company
