C.H.A.T – ‘Children’s Holiday Activity Transport’ – is providing mini bus transport, via some wonderful volunteer bus drivers, to help children and their families get to different activities around Torbay for the 5 week summer period.

We have daily trips to the Occombe Farm Monster Trail and we have been given some ‘Golden Tickets’ which allows free entry for the children.

Next week (August 18th – 24th) is Children’s Week and we have transport available to go to Paignton all through the week!

There’ll be fun and entertainment for all the family as Torbay Children’s Week returns to Paignton Green.

Now in its 68th year a new group Friends of Torbay Community Play Days has been set up to organise and run the weeks activities with the support of Play Torbay and the Children’s Week organising committee. Together they successfully applied for an Awards for All grant which, along with Torbay council funding has enabled the event to operate for the full five days.

There will be a packed programme of performances, workshops and events throughout the five days. The majority will be free, however, some have a small charge. Here is a taster of the activities going on during the week:

Monday 18th August – Road Dahl Book Day (11-5pm) – Fancy dress competition, build a BFG, story telling, crafts and lots of fun activities.

Tuesday 19th August – Discovery Day – Pavement art competition, Really Wild roadshow, Fossil dig.

Wednesday 20th August – Pirate Day – Pirate Bay Crazy Golf, Sandcastle competition, The Pirates MisAdventure Childrens Show.

Thursday 21st August – Sci Fi Day – Famous Movie Cars, Movie Characters, Indiana Jones Treasure Hunt and visit the Haribo Experience.

Friday 22nd August – Slap Stick Day (Messy Day) -Water Rockets, Water slide, Heritage replay activity obstacle course.

Saturday 23rd August – Interline Building Supplies Family Fun Day – Palm FM, Keep the Tide Out competition, construction games and competitions and Big Bang fireworks display at 9pm!

All week there will be fairground rides, dinosaur digs, cooking with pam in the kitchen, arts and crafts in the marquee and activities for all ages.
