The fire service received a call to a car fire at Newton Road in Torre, Torquay this evening.
One fire engine from Torquay attended and arrived at the scene just after 6.30pm.
Fire crews confirmed a fire involving the engine compartment of a car on the public highway.
Fire crews extinguished the fire using one hose reel jet.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
