Car severely damaged by fire near Newton Abbot

The Fire Service received call reporting a car on fire at Michelcombe, Holne, near Newton Abbot just after 2pm today.

One fire appliance was mobilised from Buckfastleigh and an off road vehicle attended.

Fire crews confirmed one private car severely damaged by fire.

Five percent of an adjacent outbuilding was also damaged by fire.

The fire was extinguished by fire crews using two breathing apparatus wearers, two hose reel jets, compressed air foam systems and a thermal image camera.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Fire Service.
