Residents are invited to roll up their sleeves and join a Community Planting Morning on Saturday 18th October (9am–12 noon) to help improve the green space by the Church and School opposite The Kent’s Pub in Wellswood.
The event, organised by the Wellswood Community Partnership, builds on previous community improvements, including the planting of new trees last year, and marks the next stage of a co-designed project developed with pupils from Ilsham C of E Academy. Together, they’ve imagined new ways to make this much-loved space more welcoming, playful, and biodiverse.
“We’ve been working with Ilsham School to design simple, low-cost improvements that make the park more inviting for everyone,” said Beth Huntley from the Wellswood Community Partnership. “Now we’d love the community’s help to bring those ideas to life. Whether you can plant, paint, or simply cheer us on, everyone’s contribution matters.”
The Partnership hopes the day will inspire residents to take pride and ownership of the green space, helping it to flourish as a place for all ages to enjoy.
Volunteers are encouraged to drop in at any time during the morning, bring gloves and hand tools if they have them, and lend as much or as little time as they can.
