Date announced for next Torbay Residents Engagement Event

Community Safety will be the focus of Torbay Council’s next residents engagement event later this month.

The event will be held on Thursday 26 September outside Primark in Union Street, Torquay, from 10am to 4pm.

These bi-monthly events are a chance for residents to meet councillors (of all parties) and council staff to talk about what matters to them. They also help capture thoughts and feedback on consultations, changes to policies and services.

Representatives from the council’s Safer Communities team, the neighbourhood Policing team and partner agencies including the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner will be available. You’ll be able to learn more about Street Focus Torquay, a partnership project to make Torquay a safer town centre.

You can also find out more about Safer Streets Paignton, our project to tackle anti-social behaviour and violence against women and girls in Paignton. Plus, you can learn more about the Safety of Women at Night charter, a pledge signed by Torbay night-time economy businesses to keep women safe while in their premises.

Councillor Hayley Tranter, Cabinet Member for Adult and Community Services, Public Health and Inequalities, said: “We know that anti-social behaviour and serious violence is a top concern for residents. We’d encourage anyone who is free to come along and speak to us at this drop-in event.

“This event also gives us the opportunity to highlight the steps we are taking to tackle issues of community safety. Come along and learn more about how we are working closely with local police and find out more about Operation Town Centres; our plan to make all Bay town centres safe and inviting places for residents, business and visitors.”
