DCW and Torquay United kick off another season of sustainability
Torquay United Football Club will once again join forces with leading South West sustainable waste management provider, Devon Contract Waste (DCW), as the club’s official waste management partner for the 2025/26 season.
From January to August 2025, the partnership delivered standout results at Plainmoor. In that period, almost 10 tonnes of waste were collected, with 26% recycled and the remaining 74% diverted from landfill and converted into energy.
These achievements highlight the positive impact of working together to make football more environmentally responsible while keeping matchdays clean and welcoming for fans, players, and staff alike.
Paul Wotton, Manager of Torquay United, said: “We’re pleased to have DCW back on board for another season. Their work behind the scenes makes a huge difference to how we operate on matchdays, and their values align with our own sustainability goals. We’re looking forward to their continued help this season, keeping a clean and welcoming environment at Plainmoor that our community can be proud of.”
Brett Sinclair, Business Coordination Manager at DCW, added:
“We’re proud to continue our partnership with Torquay United and to play our part in making Plainmoor more sustainable. Last season’s results show what’s possible — with zero waste to landfill and the majority of matchday waste either recycled or recovered for energy. It’s about more than collections — it’s about supporting a local community club and proving that practical environmental action works at every level.”
The renewed sponsorship is part of DCW’s wider mission to work with organisations that share its commitment to sustainability, innovation, and community spirit. Operating across Devon, DCW helps local businesses, events, and sports venues improve their waste management and achieve their environmental goals.
