Radford Community Centre in Plymstock has been awarded £1,000 from Persimmon Homes.
The accredited five-star housebuilder behind the nearby Saltram Meadow development made the donation as part of its Community Champions scheme. The funds have been used to purchase new and updated kitchen equipment for the benefit of the Centre’s users.
Radford Community Centre is run by Royal Navy Family & People Support and caters specifically to Armed Forces personnel and their families who live in Plymouth, whilst also facilitating events for other charities and public authorities.
The Community Champions programme sees £700,000 donated each year to good causes and much-valued organisations across Britain. Recent local recipients include St Luke’s Hospice, Plymouth Hospitals Charity, The Box Museum, Building Plymouth, and Mutley Air Cadets.
Persimmon has one, two, three, and four-bed homes available for sale from £164,500 at Saltram Meadow in Plymstock. Plans for the public square, an Aldi supermarket, and the final stages of residential development are currently progressing through the planning system.
The housebuilder has its own bespoke Armed Forces Discount Scheme – which offers £500 off every £25,000 spent on a new home – in addition to the government-backed Forces Help-to-Buy that enables British service personnel to borrow up to 50% of their annual salary to put towards buying a home.
