Children at Alphington Primary School are set for exciting new literary adventures after receiving a donation of books worth £1,000. The generous gift of Usborne Books from local housebuilder, David Wilson Redrow South West, will help to bring the school’s new library to life, giving pupils the opportunity to discover new stories and develop a lifelong love of reading.

Craig Turner, Curriculum Senior Leader at Alphington Primary School, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have received this donation. These books will make a fantastic addition to our new library. Reading in primary school is so important – it opens the door to every other subject, through fuelling imagination and giving children the confidence to explore the world through words. Donations like these help us make reading accessible and enjoyable for every child.”

Louise Ware, sales director for David Wilson Redrow South West, added: “It’s fantastic to support Alphington Primary School and help inspire young readers in the local community. Books have the power to spark curiosity and creativity, and we’re proud to play a small part in helping children discover the joy of reading.”

The housebuilder is currently delivering new homes at St Michael’s Meadow. The development includes a mix of three and four bedroom ‘Heritage Collection’ homes, situated in the desirable Alphington area of Exeter. Families will appreciate being within walking distance of Alphington Primary School, while the vibrancy of Exeter city centre is less than three miles away, which offers a wide range of shops, restaurants, cafés, and leisure facilities. Nature lovers can enjoy easy access to Dartmoor National Park and Dawlish Warren Beach, both under 30 minutes from home.

For commuters, St David’s Train Station and Junction 31 of the M5 are just a ten-minute drive, making travel across the region straightforward and convenient.
