The festive season is officially on its way, and communities across Teignbridge are gearing up for a series of sparkling Christmas lights switch-on events. With markets, parades, entertainment, and visits from Father Christmas himself, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Newton Abbot – Saturday 22 November
Newton Abbot is kicking off the celebrations with a full day of family fun. Courtenay Street will come alive with street food, craft stalls, balloon modelling, face painting, children’s crafts, and performances from talented musicians and Taiko drummers.
Christmas Parade: 5pm, from The Avenue to the Clock Tower
Lights Switch-On: 5.30pm
Meet Father Christmas: 5.45pm–6.30pm, where he’ll be greeting families from his sleigh
Teignmouth – Saturday 22 November
Teignmouth’s festivities run from 10.30am to 6pm in the Triangle and along Bank Street, offering live music, entertainment, market stalls, tasty treats, and free rides for all ages. Children can also step into Santa’s grotto at no cost and receive a special gift.
Lantern Parade with Samba Band: 5.45pm
Christmas Tree Lights Switch-On: Around 6pm
Dawlish – Saturday 29 & Sunday 30 November
Dawlish will host a wonderful weekend of Christmas celebrations spread across the town centre. Visitors can look forward to a festive market, live music, family entertainment, a seasonal display, and heartfelt carol singing.
A magical lantern parade—featuring Father Christmas and some special guests—will lead up to the eagerly awaited big Christmas lights switch-on to round off the weekend.
