Fire crews were called to a fire involving a tractor this afternoon (3 August)

Crews were called to the fire at a field on Denbury Road, Newton Abbot at 14:49

One appliance from Newton Abbot was mobilised to the incident.

Crews arrived on scene and requested the environmental protection unit also from Newton Abbot, due to a ruptured diesel tank on the tractor.

A support pump went with it. Crews extinguished the fire using one hose reel jet and two breathing apparatus.

The vehicle was severely damaged by the fire which was caused accidentally.

Crews also managed to contain 50 litres of contaminated water using a dam from the environmental protection unit.
