Fire crews called to fire at Torquay property

The fire service recieved a call at 12:21pm to a fire at a property in St Marychurch Road, Torquay today (9 September)

One appliance from Torquay and one from Paignton were mobilised to the incident.

On their arrival crews confirmed a fire in a bedroom on the first floor of a semi-detached house.

Crews went to work to extinguish the fire using four Breathing Apparatus Wearers, Short Extension Ladder, one Hose Reel Jet, two Safety Jets, Positive Pressure Ventilation Fan, Small Tools and Thermal Imaging Camera.

The bedroom was severely damaged by fire and the remainder of the first floor was severely damaged by smoke.  20% of the ground floor was slightly damaged by smoke.

A Fire Investigation Officer is currently investigating.
