The Fire Service received calls to a barn on fire at Treadle farm in Drewsteignton this afternoon.
Two fire appliances from Okehampton, one fire appliance from Moretonhampstead and the water bowser from Danes Castle Exeter attended.
Crews arrived to a range of single storey dutch barns measuring thirty metres by twenty metres containing one farm tractor and thirty large bales of hay with about 20% of the contents alight
Upon arrival fire crews requested a fourth fire appliance from North Tawton as well as the incident command vehicle and a support appliance from Honiton.
Fire crews also requested the attendance of the Environmental Protection Unit with a support appliance from South Molton.
Mid Devon Environmental Health department and the Environment Agency were made aware of this incident.
Crews later requested a further two fire appliances from Crediton and Danes Castle Exeter for additional crew power.
