Fire crews were called to reports of a fire in the open in Kingswear this afternoon (19 August)

The fire service received numerous calls reporting the incident at around 3.30pm today.

The fire was near the railway line (Kingswear side of the Higher ferry)

Crews had to proceed on foot for the last part of the journey and took beaters.

As the incident progressed crews used high pressure hose reels and jets to extinguish the fire.
