Fire service called to Ashburton car fire

The fire service were called to reports of a vehicle fire in Ashburton earlier this evening.

One fire appliance from Ashburton fire station was mobilised to the incident in Rew Road at 7.10pm.

The vehicle, parked on a driveway was well alight.

Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and made sure the scene was left safe with a themal imaging camera.

The cause is believed to be accidental.
