The Fire Service were called to a report of smoke coming from a flat within a block in Lower Warberry Road, Torquay late last night (19 September)

Residents from the flats were advised to evacuate the flats prior to the arrival of fire crews.

Initially just local appliances were mobilised to the incident.

Once in attendance crews located a fire in a first floor flat and got to work using four breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel, a covering jet and two positive pressure ventilation fans.

Additional resources were mobilised to the incident at the request of the crews in attendance,  making a total of 5 fire appliances attending the incident.

The building was heavily smoke logged and crews carried out a search of the building to ensure everyone was accounted for.

There are no reports of any injuries.
