Guest blog: The effects of bullying.

Guest blog: The effects of bullying.

Last week I introduced the very brave parents of a bullied young teen to their local MP. They regaled the events of the bullying at school which escalated to bullying online.

This sad story had striking similarities to Izzy’s. To witness a Father break down because in his words
‘I couldn’t protect my little girl, I felt I had let her down’
was absolutely heart wrenching.

To hear how this young teen had not only self harmed but was so terrified of going to school she actually attempted to throw herself down a flight of stairs in the hope she would sustain a serious enough injury, that would render her unable to attend school. To hear how these parents, at their wits end had to physically drag their daughter out of bed and escort her to school. How this impacted on family life as the battle ensued on a daily basis. They felt isolated and alone, they felt no one was listening they didn’t know where to turn.

They contacted us via our Facebook page and thank goodness we were able to support them.

I advised these Parents to write a letter of complaint to the Head of Governors which they did and they agreed to my setting up an appointment with their local MP.

I am happy to say this young teen is now attending a new school and is a much happier young lady . She is still battling with self esteem and lack of confidence and probably will for some time.

The effects of Bullying can and do last a lifetime!!

This is one of many many accounts of bullying we are told on the Izzy Dix Anti Bullying Memorial Group.

I implore any parent of a child being bullied at school to contact us via Facebook, The Izzy Dix Anti Bullying Memorial Group. We can and will do everything possible to help and support. We have a fact sheet you will find useful regarding the complaints procedure.
You don’t have to deal with this alone.

The more parents are willing to speak out the sooner we will be able to put pressure on schools and Authorities to deal with the bullying issue effectively thus protecting our young people.

TOGETHER WE ARE STRONG

Sandy
