Home Visits team awarded customer service excellence medal by company’s founders

A Home Visits team has been honoured by Specsavers founders Doug and Dame Mary Perkins for looking after the eye health of local people and providing excellent customer care.

Plymouth is one of only six Specsavers teams from across the UK and the Republic of Ireland to receive the Dame Mary Perkins medal for Customer Service Excellence this year.

The winners received £1,000 in prize money and attended a celebration dinner at the Grand Hotel in Birmingham, held in their honour.

They received their medals from Dame Mary Perkins on stage at the Specsavers Professional Advancement Conference (PAC) at the ICC in Birmingham. PAC has been running for more than 30 years and has become one of the largest and most valued clinical conferences for Optometry and Audiology professionals in the UK and Ireland.

Dame Mary said: ‘Specsavers’ mission is to change lives through better sight and hearing. This year’s winners are all shining examples of how our optometrists and audiologists do that every day. Congratulations to all of them.’

The Plymouth Home Visits team is led by Optometry director Andrew Reynolds, who previously worked across a small chain of independent opticians in Cornwall before becoming a partner in the Specsavers business.

Andrew said he is ‘really happy’ to be bringing the service to his home county of Cornwall, expanding to cover the county this year.

He added: ‘We have built a really great team of people who provide eye care in people’s homes across West Devon and Cornwall. They ooze empathy and support for each other, are all happy in their roles, and together we have been excited to see the business change and grow.

‘We are a key part of the neighbourhood health serviceand have built strong relationships within the community, working closely with key healthcare providers and are working together to improve quality of life for local people.

‘I am delighted to be part of this team and winning this award makes me very proud of them all, and proud to be part of the Specsavers family too.’
