Mrs Murals, a renowned local artist, is making waves in the community by creating two unique pieces of art on reclaimed surfboards to raise funds for two local charities.

The first artwork, hand-painted onto a 6ft reclaimed surfboard, features a vibrant surf scene of Wembury beach. This piece will be sold via silent auction, supporting Surfers Against Sewage, an environmental charity dedicated to protecting the ocean.

Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) is a marine conservation charity that collaborates with communities to safeguard oceans, waves, beaches, and marine life. The organisation pursues its mission through innovative campaigning and educational programmes.

The second surfboard artwork, also crafted from a reclaimed board—this time a 7ft piece from the 1970s—features three iconic local lighthouses. Beautifully hand-painted, it supports St Luke’s Hospice and celebrates the St Luke’s Guiding Lights Project, which will see over 40 spectacular painted lighthouse sculptures forming a trail in Plymouth City Centre next summer. The painted surfboard will be on display for everyone to view in St Luke’s charity shop at Plymstock Broadway Shopping Centre until Monday 8th December.

St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth operates as an independent charity, offering specialist care and support to individuals living with progressive life-limiting illnesses in Plymouth, South West Devon, and East Cornwall.

Mrs Murals said “I am committed to supporting local communities and charities through my artistic work whenever possible. This is also a great opportunity to highlight and celebrate some of the fantastic features of our local coastline!”

The upcoming silent auctions present an exciting chance for residents and art enthusiasts alike to own a meaningful piece of local artwork, while contributing directly to the wellbeing of people and the protection of the environment in their area.

Both unique artworks are available through silent auction, helping to raise money and awareness for Surfers Against Sewage and St Luke’s Hospice. To place a bid, interested parties can email mrsmurals@hotmail.com.

The deadline for bids on the Wembury scene surfboard (supporting Surfers Against Sewage) is noon on Monday, 1st December. Bidding for the Lighthouse scene surfboard (supporting St Luke’s Hospice) concludes at noon on Monday, 8th December.
