All Saints Marsh CofE Academy (ASM), part of the Learning Academy Partnership,<https://www.lapsw.co.uk/> has been awarded Certificate of Achievement status in the 2026 Pearson National Teaching Awards, in the Making a Difference – Primary School of the Year category. This national recognition celebrates the school’s dedication, impact, and commitment to providing an outstanding education for every pupil.

Situated in the heart of Newton Abbot, ASM is a small school with a big heart, combining ambition, care, and a nurturing village-school environment. With less than 100 pupils on roll, the school ensures that every child is known, valued, and supported, and families are fully part of a close-knit community.

Recently rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in all areas, the school has been praised for its calm, welcoming atmosphere, high expectations, and strong relationships between staff and pupils.

The school’s ambitious curriculum lies at the heart of its success. Learning is carefully sequenced, beginning within the pupils’ local context and expanding nationally and globally. Through projects like History Hunters, in partnership with the Newton Abbot museum, pupils created historical displays exploring the railway and its impact on the town.

ASM also delivers exceptional academic outcomes. In recent assessments, 85% of pupils met the expected standard in reading, writing, and maths, compared to 57% across the local authority.

Beyond academics, ASM prioritises personal development. From Reception onwards, children are taught to understand emotions, build healthy relationships, and engage in community life, creating a safe, fun, and inspiring environment.

The school plans to celebrate the achievement on National Thank a Teacher Day later this year. The Pearson awards, founded in 1998 by Lord Puttnam, celebrate excellence in education and highlight the vital role teachers and schools play in shaping future generations.

Mr Liam O’Sullivan, headteacher, at All Saints Marsh C of E Academy said:

“I am incredibly proud of our whole school team at All Saints Marsh. Every member of staff works tirelessly to ensure that our pupils are supported, challenged, and inspired every day.

“This recognition is a testament to their dedication and to the strong, caring community we have built here. Seeing our children flourish, both academically and personally, is the greatest reward, and I am delighted that their hard work and enthusiasm are being celebrated on a national stage.”

Tracey Cleverly, CEO of Learning Academy Partnership said:

“All Saints Marsh CofE Academy exemplifies the values at the heart of the Learning Academy Partnership. This recognition reflects the school’s unwavering commitment to inclusion, high expectations, and the development of every child. We are proud of the leadership, staff, and pupils whose hard work and creativity have made such a positive impact in their community, and it is inspiring to see their achievements celebrated nationally.”
