Drivers in Torbay are being advised to plan ahead this week as a major overnight road closure will affect Hamelin Way, Hellevoetsluis Way and Marldon Way for three consecutive nights.
The dual carriageway will be closed from 7pm until 5am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, with the road reopening on Sunday morning following the completion of the works.
The overnight closure is being carried out to minimise disruption during daytime hours while extensive maintenance and improvement works take place across the route.
More than 50 SWISCo operatives are expected to be on site throughout the three-night programme, carrying out a range of essential highway and environmental improvements.
The works will include:
* Road resurfacing
* Installation of high-friction surfacing
* Streetlight maintenance
* Gully cleaning
* Improvements to road markings
* Grass cutting
* Litter picking
* Sign installation
* Remote lawnmower installation
Torbay Council says the works form part of ongoing efforts to improve the condition, safety and appearance of one of the area’s busiest routes. Similar highway maintenance projects are routinely undertaken overnight to reduce the impact on commuters and local businesses.
Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time for their journeys and follow any signed diversion routes while the closures are in place.
Residents living nearby may notice increased activity during the evening hours as crews work to complete the programme as quickly and safely as possible.
Anyone planning to travel through the area between 7pm and 5am over the three nights should consider alternative routes where possible.
