Penny’s Hill in Torquay closed after accident

[Update:The casualty, a 35 year old woman was taken to hospital with back injuries.
Her injuries are not as serious as first thought and are not thought to be life changing.
The road remained closed until approx 10.30pm]

Emergency services were called to the scene of an accident at Penny’s Hill in Torquay tonight.

Penny’s Hill was closed both ways between Parkfield Road and Teignmouth Road.

People in the area said that an ambulance attended the scene and a person was transported to hospital.

A number of people were seen in the road assisting a casualty on the floor after she was hit by a car.

The police are still on scene.

There are not currently any further details regarding people or vehicles involved or any injuries.

Diversions are in place whilst the road is closed.
