Phones4u enter administration and 550 stores close.

Phones 4u closed all 550 stores today including stores in Torquay, Paignton and Newton Abbot after going into administration, putting over 5000 jobs at risk.

The stores will remain closed, pending a decision by the administrators on whether the business can reopen for trading. Administrators are said to be talking with potential buyers.

Their website www.phones4u.co.uk stated:

Following the unexpected decision of EE and Vodafone to withdraw supply from Phones4U , we regret that we are offline. Please accept our apologies and we will update you as soon as possible

Phone contracts should remain unaffected and the company have said they will be refunding the Iphone 6 pre-orders.

It is unclear what will happen about insurance, customers calling the helpline have been advised to call back on or after Tuesday 16th September.
