A hospital worker in the Plymouth area has gone far beyond the usual Christmas jumper seasonal attire and has been surprising staff and patients with a new larger-than-life Christmas costume every day at work in the run up to Christmas.
Patient booker Chloe, at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Plymouth has been pulling out all the stops in a series of full festive costumes, including a life-size Christmas tree, an inflatable gingerbread man, a giant Christmas present and, most recently, a super-sized Santa’s elf. Her creative outfits have brought laughter, conversation and smiles throughout the hospital, helping to brighten what can be an anxious time for many people.
Continuing her festive mission, Chloe’s latest outfit sees her fully dressed as an elf, causing a little good-natured mischief around the hospital while spreading joy and lifting spirits across departments.
Chloe explained why she decided to go the extra mile this Christmas. She said: “Christmas can be a really difficult time for some people, especially if they’re preparing for surgery or having a consultation for the first time. I wanted to do something that might make people smile and feel a bit lighter, even if it’s just for a moment. We have such a friendly team here, and it’s lovely to be able to bring some extra fun into the hospital at this time of year.”
Sarah Fell, Hospital Director, said Chloe’s efforts perfectly reflect the culture of the hospital. She said: “This is what holiday spirit at work truly looks like. We’re incredibly proud of our team and the atmosphere they create. It’s not a typical hospital environment here – there’s a real family feel, and we’re very community-focused. Gestures like this show how much our staff care about each other and about our patients, and that makes a huge difference, particularly at Christmas.”
Private patients can book consultations directly with Wellsoon private healthcare from Practice Plus Group, and NHS patients can ask their GP for a referral to the hospital. Wellsoon from Practice Plus Group hip and knee surgery is available from 4-6 weeks of seeing a consultant.
Practice Plus Group Hospital, Plymouth is located on Brest Rd, Plymouth (PL6 5XP) and is rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Visit www.practiceplusgroup.com
