Police in Exeter are appealing for information after £2000 was left outside of a charity shop.
Police are hoping to speak to a generous donor after a large amount of cash was left in a bag outside an Exeter charity shop.
The donation was discovered on the morning of Monday 11 November and police are now trying to establish if the donation was made legitimately.
A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall police said: “There is nothing to suggest that it is not legitimate but we want to make sure that the person who left the money intended to do so.
“The money, which was in used £20 notes and was in excess of £2,000, was in the bag with other items and left outside a charity shop in Cowick Street.
“It was left before the shop opened and all we are trying to do is confirm that it was the donor’s wish to give the money to the charity.
“We would like to hear from the person who left the money or from a relative who knows if someone has given away a large sum recently.”
If no-one comes forward the money will stay with the charity.
