At around 4.45pm on Tuesday 22 April, three people entered the House of Diamonds, Torquay Road, dressed in hooded tops and overalls. They were allegedly armed with a baseball bat and a knife.

Witnesses managed to detain one of the offenders whilst another two made off and got into a waiting car. The white Peugeot was recovered a short distance away with the two other suspects making off on foot.

During the robbery the shop owner sustained a minor injury to his arm.

Inspector Justin Wyles, Sector Inspector for Paignton and Brixham, said:”We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the robbery or saw the offenders make off.”

A 21-year-old man from Torquay has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and remains in police custody.

Two other men have been arrested on suspicion of an unrelated theft and burglary, and two further individuals have been street bailed for drugs offences.

Anyone with information that could assist with the investigation is asked to call police on 101 quoting FP/14/1315, or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
