Police in Totnes are appealing for information following a number of daytime burglaries in South Devon.
Three houses were targeted during the daytime on Tuesday 1st July in Dartington,Totnes and Liverton and Investigating officers believe they are connected.
The first burglary occurred sometime between 8.15am and 3.50pm at a property in Cott Road, Dartington.
Entry was gained through an insecure window at the rear of the property and a large quantity of jewellery was taken following a tidy search.
Some of the items are distinctive, in particular a designer silver band ring which was overlaid with decorative gold and inset with an amethyst, ear-rings and a pendant which were set with unusual turquoise blue opals and a gold locket and chain which was inscribed on the rear with ‘To Vivian on your christening from Nana Lloyd’.
Also stolen were an ipad andMacbook Air.
A second burglary occurred sometime between 9.15am and 12 noon at a property located in Benedicts Road, Liverton.
Entry was gained by forcing rear French doors and following a search stolen items included 3 clocks, one of which was antique and inscribed on the base W52061, a quantity of jewellery, porcelain items and a laptop.
A third burglary occurred around 12.45pm at a property in Bridgetown Hill, Totnes.
The rear patio doors were forced to gain entry, but the offender was disturbed by the owner and fled empty handed.
The suspect is described as being, aged between 18 and 25 years, 5’10” to 6’ in height skinny build, with very short crew cut style hair and very pale skin. He was wearing a blueish sweater top with long sleeves and blue jogging style trousers with a white logo down the sides and dark footwear.
Police are reminding the public to ensure that as far as possible their properties are secured as much as possible especially during the hot weather when it may be all too easy to leave windows open.
