Police appeal for witnesses after teenager suffers life threatening injuries in collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was seriously injured following a collision with a car in Paignton.

A 16-year-old male pedestrian suffered life-threatening head injuries as a result and was taken by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The collision happened at 12.15pm on Saturday 6 December on Great Western Road, on the one-way system just outside Paignton train station.

The driver of the silver Vauxhall Vectra, a 42-year-old local man, was uninjured.

A section of Great Western Road was closed while a full forensic examination of the scene took place. It was reopened at around 7.30pm.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit on 101, quoting log 344 of 6 December, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
