Police are appealing for witnesses following a reported serious assault in Plymouth which left a woman with facial injuries.
The incident is reported to have happened on Catherine Street, near the Baptist Church, between around 10pm on Saturday 8 August and 1am on Sunday 9 August.
Police say the woman was assaulted by a man in the street and sustained injuries to her face.
Officers are particularly keen to speak to a woman who is described as white, with blonde curly hair. She was reportedly wearing black heels and a pink long-sleeved dress and helped the victim get to the Safe Bus following the incident.
Police are also appealing to a group of men who reportedly came to the woman’s aid to come forward.
A 43-year-old man of no fixed abode in Plymouth was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has information, dashcam footage or mobile phone footage that could assist the investigation, to come forward.
