Reduced off season parking charges to be introduced at Fleet Walk

The introduction of reduced parking prices between 1 November and 30 April is part of a new, simplified seasonal flat rate tariff structure at the car park, which will replace the separate day and night-time charges currently in place.

Torbay Council has worked closely with Milligan, the strategic asset manager for Fleet Walk, to introduce the changes, following feedback from Torquay’s town centre and harbourside businesses.

Offering more flexible parking tariffs will make Torquay town centre and the harbourside more accessible to residents and visitors, encourage them to spend more time visiting the area, and help the town centre and local businesses thrive all year round.

New signage will be installed in Fleet Walk this week (week commencing 27 October) to reflect the changes, before the new, reduced off-peak charges are introduced on Saturday 1 November.

Councillor Adam Billings, Torbay Council’s Cabinet Member for Pride in Place and Parking, said:

“I’m pleased that by working with Milligan and the Fleet Walk team we have been able to respond to the voice of our local business community to introduce these changes. This is all part of our ongoing commitment to creating thriving town centre spaces and supporting our local businesses.

“I hope that lots of residents and visitors will make the most of the reduced-price parking in Fleet Walk over the coming months and come to explore and enjoy all that Torquay town centre and harbourside have to offer.”

Torbay Council is aware of the ongoing issues with the lifts and escalators at Fleet Walk car park and shopping centre. Working in partnership with Milligan and the Fleet Walk team, Torbay Council is committed to fixing these issues. A comprehensive, long-term strategy for the repair and replacement of the lifts and escalators is being developed. This approach will ensure a reliable and efficient system that seamlessly connects all levels of the car park with the shops, Fleet Street, and surrounding areas.
