Second Devon chicken shed fire kills 3500 chickens

Approximately 3500 chickens died in a chick shed fire today at a farm on North Down Road, Thorverton (Near Exeter)

The Fire Service were called to a report of a fire involving a chicken shed at a local farm.

4 appliances we mobilised to the incident. Once in attendance crews requested the attendance of a water carrier.

About 50% of the building used as chicken housing, measuring 180 x 10 metres was involved in fire.

8 LPG cylinders were removed from the building.

This is the second chicken shed fire in Devon in the past month.
