South Devon fire fighters battle Kingsbridge industrial estate blaze

Update:
The premises contains 10 units, 4 units were severely damaged by fire. 6 units were damaged by heat and smoke.

Firefighters from all over South Devon are currently battling a fire on a industrial estate in Kingsbridge.


The fire service received calls reporting a fire in Churchstow at around 02:30 this morning.

Initially one fire engine from Kingsbridge was mobilised.
Due to further calls units from Modbury and Salcombe were also mobilised.

Later units from Totnes, Plymptom, Torquay, Plymstock, Ivybridge, Greenbank, Paignton, Dartmouth and Buckfastleigh attended.

By 03:39 there were 10 pumps on scene as the fire had spread to neighbouring units.

The police were on seen at 03:45 and closed the road.

By 6am 3 commercial premises still involved, crews preventing spread to remaining units.

The A379 is currently closed both ways between B3197 (Bantham Cross) and A381 / B3264 (Palegate Cross) due to the fire.

Police are advising to avoid the area.
