It’s a true family affair at Torquay Holiday Park in Devon, where ten members of the Stevens family work side by side across the maintenance, accommodation, and food service teams.

Ray Stevens (49), Maintenance Supervisor; Tracy Stevens (45), Assistant Accommodation Manager; Lee Stevens (44), Assistant Accommodation Manager; Sally Stevens (41), Maintenance Manager; Rachel Stevens (39), Accommodation Manager; Demi Lindsay (22), Accommodation Supervisor & Admin Assistant; Harley Stevens (18), Maintenance Assistant; Courtney Stevens (18), Apprentice Chef; Harrison Stevens (18), Accommodation Cleaner; and Layla Stevens (16), Accommodation Cleaner, all say that working together at the Parkdean Resorts-owned park feels like a home from home.

The Torquay family unit spans two generations. Siblings Sally, Rachel, Lee, and Ray form the first generation. Sally’s daughter Demi works alongside her cousins Harley, Harrison, and Layla – the children of Lee. Meanwhile, Ray works with his wife Tracy and their daughter Courtney, completing the multi-generational team.

Siblings Sally and Rachel have worked at the park for 24 and 23 years respectively. Sally said: “What inspired us was our mum, she worked here at Torquay Holiday Park for 20 years as a cleaner and then as an accommodation supervisor. As children we would come to the park to play while our mum cleaned caravans. Some of our relatives also worked here, including our aunties, uncles, and our nan, so it always felt so familiar to us growing up.”

Rachel added: “It is such a lovely feeling to be able to work alongside your family, they are there for you when you need support, and it’s good to have team members that you can trust and rely on. We have so many good times and laugh so much because we all have the same sense of humour.

“Being able to spend quality time with my family while working full-time is incredibly rewarding.”

Sally added: “While it’s so special to work alongside family, the reason so many of us have chosen a career here is because Parkdean Resorts is an amazing company to work for. The opportunities presented to us have allowed us all to grow in our roles and it’s been so meaningful to do so alongside our loved ones.”

Paul Todd, General Manager at Torquay Holiday Park, commented: “We’re lucky to have such a great team here at Torquay Holiday Park. The Stevens family are an asset to Parkdean Resorts, and it’s been fantastic to see their progress and development throughout the years.”

Parkdean Resorts is the UK’s leading holiday park operator and owns a total of 65 holiday parks throughout the UK, including three in Devon: Torquay Holiday Park, Bideford Bay Holiday Park and Challaborough Bay Holiday Park.
