Teignmouth Pier has finally reopened this month after five months of being closed due to storm damage. The pier was badly damaged earlier in the year, during the February storms that caused devastation throughout Devon. The repairs have been estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands, but has enabled the pier to be operational in time for the height of the summer season.
The pier has been owned by the Brenner family since 1962, the family and workers have worked extensively in the last few months to repair the popular attraction. During the storms, a large hole was punched in the wooden floorboards by rough waves and arcade machines were thrown around and left damaged, new retail units and machines have been added to the pier to ensure that it is fully functional once again.
Be sure to visit Teignmouth Pier during the summer holidays for a fun day out and to help support it’s re-opening.
