Teignmouth Primary School has been given a prestigious award for its ongoing approach to inclusion. The school has not only received the Inclusion Quality Mark but was also recognised as a Centre of Excellence.
The IQM is the only national award for inclusion in the UK, and looks at how schools create an environment for all children to succeed. To gain the mark involves a rigorous assessment process across several key areas (including Leadership, Values and Behaviour). Pupils, parents, Local Authority partners and staff were all consulted by the IQM Assessor, who commended the school throughout their report.
“It is very evident that the school goes above and beyond to cater for children,” states the report which also comments on the ‘clear commitment to care in a pastoral way’. The report highlights the wide array of enrichment opportunities, Outdoor Learning, excellent behaviour, and the relational approach from an expert staff team.
The Teignmouth team say they are proudest of the view that Teignmouth Primary School “finds the magic that works for every child”.
As a Centre of Excellence, Teignmouth Primary School can support other schools in ensuring every child thrives.
“We are so proud of this huge achievement for our amazing community,” says headteacher, Luke Marchant. “Our children are incredibly welcoming and accepting of each other, and our staff are dedicated to helping every child thrive.”
