The theme this year is ‘Rising as me: overcoming challenges, transforming, and finding your identity.’

Become is part of the Alliance for Children in Care and Care Leavers which held a logo competition in July 2025. The winning logo will be used to celebrate National Care Leavers’ Month (#NCLM) this November.

Events taking place during Care Leavers Month:

Drop in: Every Wednesday throughout November we will be running our drop in for Care Experienced Young People in Torbay at Endevour House in Torquay from 11am. Each week will focus on a different theme centred around the National Care Leavers Month theme to also include a very special guest joining us on the 19th November!

Film Night: South Devon College will be hosting a film night for Care Experienced Young People details to follow.

Sponsored Bike Ride: The care experienced team will be taking part in relay bike ride races at the Velopark in Paignton between 12pm and 2pm – come along and join in!

Councillor Nick Bye, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services for Torbay Council, said: “National Care Leavers Month is a great opportunity to highlight our local care experienced young people and celebrate them, as well as making sure everyone is aware of the support that is available to our care experienced young people, both from Torbay Council and from other local organisations.”

You can watch a video with Soul, one of our local care experienced young people, on our YouTube channel. Earlier in the year Soul spoke to us about his experience of growing up in Foster Care in Torbay. He was fostered from the age of five and stayed with the same Foster Carer until he was 18.
