The Torbay Lottery Small Grants Fund is now open for applications until 4pm on Friday 6 March 2026. Those who have supported the central Torbay Lottery Fund have raised £12,000 for the 2025/26 Small Grants Fund pot.

Torbay Council is inviting local charity, voluntary, and community sector organisations to apply for a bid. These bids are designed to be towards the costs of a specific activity or the purchase of items of equipment up to £2,000.

Councillor Jackie Thomas, Cabinet Member for Tourism, Culture & Events and Corporate Services, said:

“Torbay Lottery has been helping our local communities to raise additional funding since 2017. We have already given out £101,136 from the Torbay Lottery Small Grants Fund over the past eight years and would really like to see new local groups applying this year so that we can benefit even more residents.”

“We want to encourage as many local groups as possible to join our Torbay Lottery. It is an easy and fun way to help raise monthly funding, with support from pre-designed marketing materials and a dedicated page on our Torbay Lottery website.”

Good causes receive 50p from every ticket sold for their cause and there is no cost to becoming a Torbay Lottery good cause. The Torbay Lottery currently has 159 local causes signed up, with over £291,414 being raised for since the Torbay Lottery was launched.

The top good causes last year were:

South Devon Cats Rehoming: £1,404
PATH: £1,222
Torbay National Coastwatch Institution: £1,222
Friends of the Vigilance of Brixham: £1,014

The Torbay Lottery panel will meet to determine who will benefit from this Small Grants Fund, with successful applicants being notified within six weeks of the closing date for applications.

You do not need to be a current Torbay Lottery good cause to apply. However, it is important to meet the requirements set out in the policy. An example of the requirements for successful applications can be found below:

Funding will only be provided where it can be demonstrated that a defined impact will be made that support the ambitions and visions of the Community and Corporate Plan.

Organisations should demonstrate an outcomes focus in applications for funding. Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate how the funding will achieve support for projects run by charities, voluntary groups, clubs, and organisations.

Torbay residents will be the main recipients of the funding. The council will require that all funding awards support the ambitions and visions of the Community and Corporate Plan.
