Every December, the historic town of Totnes transforms into a festive wonderland, drawing visitors from across Devon and beyond. The Totnes Christmas Market and Late Night Shopping evenings have become a beloved tradition—an opportunity to soak up the holiday atmosphere, browse unique artisan gifts, and enjoy seasonal entertainment long after the sun has set.

This year’s celebrations take place on Tuesday 2nd, 9th, and 16th December, with the town staying open from 15:00 to 21:00. These extended hours create a relaxed, magical shopping experience, allowing visitors to explore Totnes’ independent shops, cosy cafés, and vibrant market stalls illuminated by twinkling Christmas lights.

At the heart of the festivities is a bustling Christmas market featuring over 70 local artisan stalls. Here, makers and small businesses showcase handcrafted gifts, artwork, festive decorations, clothing, jewellery, homeware, and locally produced food and drink. The atmosphere is enhanced by live music and entertainment, with performers spread throughout the town centre, bringing extra cheer to the winter evenings.

Food lovers will also find plenty to enjoy, from seasonal treats and warming street food to mulled drinks perfect for keeping the cold at bay while strolling through the market.

One of the highlights of the event is the Lantern Parade, taking place on Tuesday, 16th December at 16:00. This beautiful procession brings together families and community groups, filling the streets with handmade lanterns that glow against the early evening sky—a magical moment that captures the spirit of the season.

The Totnes Christmas Market and Late Night Shopping events continue to be a celebration of community, creativity, and festive joy. Whether you’re searching for the perfect gift, enjoying local flavours, or simply soaking up the seasonal atmosphere, these December evenings offer something special for everyone.
