One year after the launch of the Exeter–Amsterdam service by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, travellers from across the SouthWest – as well as visitors from around the world – are making the most of the route.

Since the first flight took off in March 2025, the number one end destination continues to be the Netherlands. Thanks to its Amsterdam hub, KLM has also given passengers access from Exeter Airport to destinations across the globe, be it for holidays, business trips or to visit friends and relatives. Booking data shows a strong interest in trips to Germany, Norway, and Sweden. Beyond Europe, top destinations include Hong Kong, the United States, Peru, South Africa and more.

At the same time, the route has brought international visitors into the South West, supporting tourism and strengthening the region’s global links. Passengers taking advantage of the KLM service into Exeter have been travelling from various cities inEurope as well as Argentina, Canada, Hong Kong, and South Africa, to name a few.

Jerome Salemi, Air France-KLM General Manager (UK & Ireland), said: “It is fantastic to see how travellers have embraced our KLM service between Exeter and Amsterdam over the past year, with an average seat occupancy of around 80% in 2025. We look forward to continuing to connect the South West to the world for the years to come.”

Steve Wiltshire, Managing Director of Exeter Airport said: “Over the past year, we’ve been delighted to see how strongly passengers have taken to KLM’s Exeter–Amsterdam service. The route has provided vital access to KLM’s global network via Amsterdam, making it easier for people and businesses in our region to connect with destinations around the world, and it has attracted international visitors to the region. It’s been a hugely positive addition to our route network and we look forward to building on its success.”
