Woman airlifted to hospital following A38 collision

A woman was airlifted to hospital following a single vehicle collision on the Exeter bound A38 near Rattery.

The collision took place at 11.20am. The police, ambulance crews and the fire service attended the scene. Fire crews from Modbury, Crownhill, Camels Head, along with the heavy rescue equipment from Middlemoor were mobilised to the incident.

Both sides of the carriageway are closed whilst the air ambulance landed.

There were then a further 2 collisions on the A38 –

A short time later, at 11.25am, police attended a two vehicle collision at South Brent on the Exeter bound road.  A van and lorry were involved in the collision but there are no reports of any injuries.

A third incident took place at 11.30am and involved three vehicles on the Plymouth bound A38 near Lee Mill. There are no reports of any injuries.

Due to the proximity of the collisions there was considerable traffic disruption on the A38 in both directions.

The roads have since been cleared and are all open to traffic.
