Borough Road, Torquay was closed last night (15 Sepetember) by police due to an incident.

People took to Spotted Torquay late last night to find out what was happening.

There was a heavy police presence in the area including armed police and dog units.

The road was closed to both pedestrians and vehicles from 8pm.

Police were called to the incident which involved a woman who was apparently armed with what is believed to have been a gun. The weapon was later identified as an air rifle.

The woman was detained by police at around 11pm and there are no reports of injuries.

One resident told us how she was unable to return to her property on the road until 11.30pm.

The woman is now assisting police with inquiries in connection with the firearms offences act.
