A woman who died in Torquay has been identified by police following an appeal to the public.
Emergency services were called to Ilsham Marine Drive yesterday morning to reports of a woman having suffered a medical episode Tuesday (22 Aug) morning.
Police, ambulance and air ambulance attended the scene and the road was closed.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Following a police appeal, officers have now been able to identify a woman who died in Torquay earlier this week.
“Police were contacted by the South Western Ambulance Service on the morning of Tuesday 22 August.
“They were at Ilsham Marine Drive in Torquay responding to reports of a woman having suffered a medical episode in the area; she was later pronounced deceased at the scene.
“Members of the public have come forward following our appeal, and she has now been identified as a local woman in her 50’s and formal identification has taken place.
“Efforts continue to locate and inform next of kin.
“Her death is not being treated as suspicious, and officers continue to make enquiries in the area on behalf of the coroner.”
