Police have appealed for witnesses following a collision near Teignmouth in the early hours of this morning (19th April)
Emergency services were called to the scene of a single vehicle collision on the A381 shortly before 1am.
A silver Suzuki Ignis collided with a stone wall near the Metro Motors car sales garage on Newton Road, Bishopsteignton, the vehicle rolled causing significant damage to the car.
The driver, a 39 year old man from the Birmingham area was freed from the car by the fire service after he was found trapped by a member of the public.
The man, who was the only occupant was taken to Torbay hospital and then transferred to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.
The Road was closed until 9am whilst investigations took place.
Officers from the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone who witnessed to the incident or saw the silver Suzuki on the A381 prior to the collision to contact police.
