SOUP is an international crowdfunding phenomenon that brings communities together to raise small-scale investment to kick-start new businesses or ideas.
The concept is simple – come along, pay for a bowl of soup, and listen to four investment-hungry businesses pitch their idea.
Attendees will network with other business start ups and then have their say by voting for the idea which is most deserving of investment. The business with the most votes gets the takings from the event plus a package of support from the TDA and GAIN.
Carl Wyard, Economy and Enterprise Manager at TDA, said: “We are excited to be working with Plymouth University to bring this event to Torbay. The concept is great and it gives new businesses the opportunity to raise funds to launch their business idea.
“The winning business is guaranteed to take away a minimum prize worth over £1,000, as well as a comprehensive business support package that will give the entrepreneur and their business every chance of success.”
The winning business will receive 12 months TDA Business Membership worth £199 and six months membership at TDA’s Torbay work hubs worth £594.
The event takes place at Torre Abbey in Torquay on Wednesday 22 June 2016, 12:30 – 14:00.
