South Hams District Council are appealing for information on vandals who carried out over £3000’s worth of damage to Dartmouth’s Park and Ride pay and display machine last week.
The attack happened overnight on Monday 5 September and although no money was taken from the machine, this has resulted in a significant repair cost. The incident, which has been reported to the police, was on a machine which was located in the overflow field at the Park & Ride site.
South Hams District Council’s Cllr Rufus Gilbert, Portfolio Holder for Commercial Services, said: “The machines are expensive and as such, they cost a lot of money to repair. We take these offences very seriously and will work with the Police to prosecute those found to be responsible.”
The Council would like to ask that people remain alert, especially in remote car parks with pay and display machines, and if you see anything suspicious, please report to the police immediately.
