£2,500 raised for South West Blood Bikes at Devonshire Homes’ popular Golf Day

West Country house builder Devonshire Homes has raised a fantastic £2,500 for one of its charity partners, South West Blood Bikes.

Devonshire Homes welcomed guests from across the housing and construction industry to Dainton Park Golf Club in Newton Abbot for its biennial Charity Golf Day. Teams of four took to the green in high spirits. Despite the grey weather, 18 teams attended to support Devonshire Homes in raising vital funds for South West Blood Bikes and Cornwall Blood Bikes. The day consisted of 18-holes and a range of competitions including the longest drive, challenge the Pro and closest to the pin. The prestigious Devonshire Homes Charity Golf Day trophy was won by the team representing Hooper Services (South West) Ltd who came out on top.

The day was followed by an auction and raffle which raised further funds for both charities. Golfers got behind the charity and made their mark at the auction with the highest bid being made at £900. Prizes included a helicopter ride for four people, two gold passes for an Exeter Chiefs match and a round of four ball golf at Celtic Manor Resort.

Devonshire Homes has been supporting South West Blood Bikes since 2022 with £25 from every open market sale going to the charity. Volunteer bikers use their advanced motorcycle skills to provide an ‘out of hours’ service to NHS partners, transporting essential urgent supplies such as whole blood, pathology samples, medication, medical equipment, medical notes, and donor breast milk to NHS hospitals and hospices throughout Devon.

Mark Bentley, Chairman and Trustee at South West Blood Bikes, commented: “Devonshire Homes hosted a wonderful event that raised an outstanding donation for South West Blood Bikes. Our team met some great companies at the Golf Day from across the housing and construction industry, and it gave us an opportunity to talk more about what we do and how their generous donations will help us continue to run our vital service. We are really grateful that so many people got behind what we do as a charity, and it was great to connect with our friends over at Cornwall Blood Bikes too!”

Angus Cook, Managing Director at Devonshire Homes, commented: “We are thrilled that our 2023 Charity Golf Day was a great success. So many of our connections wanted to be involved and actively showed their support, and we are so pleased to be able to donate these funds to support the crucial blood charity work in the South West.”

Angus continued: “We’d like to say a big thank you to all who attended and supported our Charity Golf Day this year, and Dainton Park Golf Club which once again, hosted a seamless event. Our Charity Golf Day is a biennial event which raises funds for wonderful local charities and we look forward to our 2025 charity golf day!”

Devonshire Homes has raised funds throughout the year for South West Blood Bikes through the sales of Devonshire Homes’ new build homes. For every open market house sold, Devonshire Homes donates £25 to the charity. The staff at Devonshire Homes have also shown their support by hosting and taking part in a variety of fundraising events.

Devonshire Homes’ current developments include Applegate Park, Kingsbridge; Longston Cross, Bovey Tracey; Gwallon Keas, St. Austell; Five Lanes Close, Altarnun; The Grange, Bideford and Sun Houses, Yelland. Mariner’s Haven, Ilfracombe; Dancing Green, Wincanton and Chilla Junction, Halwill Junction are new sites that will be launching soon. For more information, visit www.devonshirehomes.co.uk.
