Police have appealed for witnesses following the launch of an attempted murder investigation in Torquay.
The incident happened between 9.20 – 9.30pm on Thursday 6th July on Hele Road opposite the Baptist Church.
It is believed that the victim, a 28-year-old man from Yorkshire was stabbed in the hip and was doused in petrol, but the suspects were not successful in their attempt to set him alight.
A police spokesperson said: “We have arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with this incident, he has been interviewed and is currently released under investigation as our enquiries into this matter continue.
“The victim received hospital treatment but is recovering well.”
